Michael is the Design Director at Stamen. He leads the art department in the creation of data visualizations, physical installations and interactive experiences. Prior to joining Stamen, Michael was Partner and Director of Neville Brody’s Research Studios, San Francisco, where he led a team in the creation of corporate identity and advertising for Macromedia, Nike, Salomon, and Issey Miyake.
He has developed a portfolio of intellectual property, including patented methods for creating computational cinema. His interactive artwork has been shown internationally, and is in the permanent collections of the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Philbrook Museum of Art.
In 2008, Michael joined Apple as a human factors engineer, designing consumer applications for the desktop and iPad. His recent work has included everything from designing the Fan Experience for the Dallas Cowboys / AT&T Stadium, to creating a stone skipping robot in Sun Valley, ID that you can control with your browser.
